Dr. J.O. Babalọlá

Head of Department

Dr. J.O. Babalọlá is the current H.O.D. of the Department of Arts and Language Education. He is a Reader with a specialization in language pedagogy. His education journey started at the Saint Peter’s Catholic Primary School Òkèmẹ̀sí-Èkìtí where he obtained Primary School Leaving Certificate in 1973. He is a product of Methodist Secondary Modern School, Ìfàkì-Èkìtì (1977), C.A.C. Teachers’ College Ẹ̀fọ̀n-aláayè (1981), obtained GCE O/Level Certificate 1982, Ọ́yọ́ State College of Education now Ọ̀ṣun State College of Education, Ìlá-Ọ̀ràngún (1986). Dr. Babalọlá bagged his first degree (B.A. Ed. Language Arts English) in 1994 from the University of Ìlọ́rin.  His M.Ed. and Ph.D in Language Education were obtained from the University of Adó-Èkìtì now the Èkìtì State University in 2003 and 2010 respectively.

Dr. Babalọlá has served in various capacities since he secured an appointment with the University through transfer of service in December, 2007. Some courses in the programs of the National Teachers’ Institute (N.T.I.) both in Ònd and Èkìtì States were facilitated by him. The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) appointed him since 2009 to date to facilitate some of her courses. He has attended many conferences within and outside the shore of Nigeria. Dr. J.O. Babalọlá has more than forty publications in both local and renowned international academic journals. He is the author and the anchor of a daily spiritual nugget Voice of Warning (VOW) with more than 400 issues as at the time of this narration. The issues are daily forwarded to some major social media platforms. Dr. J.O. Babalọlá is a registered member of Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (T.R.C.N.), International Literacy Association (I.L.A.), National Association for Science, Humanities and Education (N.A.S.H.E.) and Literacy Promotion Association of Nigeria (LiPAN). He is a Pastor in the Deeper Christian Life Ministry and the State Youths’ Coordinator for the Ministry in Èkìtì State. He is married to Mrs. B. O. Babalọlá and the union has produced God fearing children.
